Q: How is this internship funded?

A: Catherin Merrill who passed away years ago left enough money for to establish a charitable

foundation in her name. She requested that her money be used to help young Catholics deepen

their faith.

Q: When does the internship start and end?

A: Your internship at a local non-profit will from May 20nd to July 28th

Q: What hours will I work?

A: Each internship job description should list their hours. Typically, the internships are Monday

through Friday.

Q: What do the weekly reflections consist of?

A: Each week you are to write a one or two page reflection about some experience you had during

the week and what you think God’s message was to you through that experience. Or, you can

look at the readings from the Sundays the bookend that week and see if there is a message

there that connects to an experience you had that week. On this website you can click on

“Interns Weekly Reflections” to read what some of last year’s interns wrote.

Q: When are the weekly reflections due?

A: The reflections are due every Sunday night by midnight.

Q: Am I able to visit the place I will be working at before starting work?

A: Once you are accepted as an intern and assigned to a work site, we encourage that you

schedule a “meet-and-greet” with your supervisor. We will assist you in arranging this.

Q: Can I take a vacation?

A: You can take up to 5 days off during the summer.

Q: What is the dress code?

A: It depends on the organization where you will be working. It can range from business casual to

shorts and t-shirts.

Q: Do the interns as a group meet outside of work?

A: Yes, there will be an initial orientation and during the internship we will meet twice for lunch,

discussion and Mass. During the last week of the internship we will have a concluding dinner

with the trustees of the Merrill Foundation. All of these will meals, meetings and Mass will take

place at Rockhurst University.

Q: What is the pay for the internship?

A: $17.50 an hour.

Q: How am I paid and how often am I paid?

You will be paid twice a month by direct deposit into your bank account.
